Munson Fire has temporarily suspended the issuing of Burn Permits

Munson Fire has suspended the issuing of Burn Permits to our residents as of February 26th.

We have suspended them to comply with the public for health restrictions and regulations for safe distancing set forth by the CDC regarding Covid 19 by limiting entrance to the station to only Munson Fire personnel.

In addition, the State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources - Forestry, has issued a universal burn ban for March, April, May, October and November.

Per the Ohio Revised Code 1503.18, the Ohio DNR Forestry prohibits outdoor open burning and prescribed fires in the months of March, April, May, October, and November between 6am and 6pm. This ban includes burning of yard waste, trash, and debris, even in a proper burn barrel. ... Contact Ohio Division of Forestry 1-877-247-8733.

Officials have enforced the burn ban in the spring because plants have not yet turned green, which can create an elevated wildfire risk. The burn ban that returns in the fall due is due to dry leaves and dead grass.

Fire officials in Ohio want to remind everyone that the springtime open burn ban went into effect Feb 26, 2020 and will continue thru May.

You first responders apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause.
